Manual Updates

This topic describes enhancements or corrections since the publication of the BARR/RJE manual dated March 11, 1997. Use the links below to review changes and additions.

Section 6.2

The DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.SYS NOEMS entry in the table under Memory Managers has been corrected to read:

DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS.

Section 8.5

The Error Handling text has been corrected to read:

When a device is set to SUSPEND, the operator must correct the error from the Assign Devices screen. Change the destination from SUSPEND to a NET device that does not use the FCB/FORM to Print Queue Translation Table or to a NET device that has a default File Server and Print Queue. When the file finishes printing, change back to the original destination to resume normal file routing.

Section 8.6

Table 8-1 has been updated to include Printer Model Genicom (D.P.I. - No L.P.I) and PCL Acronym for Printer Control Language. codes.

Section 9.7

The Form description has been corrected to read:

Form

If you want to print files that have a certain form name at software startup, enter a form name. The form name can contain up to eight characters. You can include the DOS wildcards * and ? in the form name to select groups of forms. If this field is blank, the form name is not used in the print selection criteria. If this field contains only an *, the form name is not used in the print selection criteria.

Section 18.2

The following option has been added to the Printer Control screen: Xlate RJE Transparent Data to ASCII? The default is Yes.

Section 18.4

The following option has been added to the Modem and Line Control screen: Always use broadcast XID? The default is No.

Section 22.3

The Frmr entry in Table 22-4 has been replaced with the following entries:

Frame reject received

A frame reject has been received. The five-byte reject information is included in the scope. This indicates a link level protocol violation was detected by the remote link station. One possible violation is an incompatible frame size between partners. Check that MAXDATA set in BARR/RJE matches MAXDATA set for the mainframe (or controller, if attached to a 3174 Controller). See Chapter 2 of the Host Definition Guide for more information about MAXDATA.

A frame reject has been sent. The five-byte reject information is included in the scope. This indicates a link level protocol violation was detected by the remote link station. One possible violation is an incompatible frame size between partners. Check that MAXDATA set in BARR/RJE matches MAXDATA set for the mainframe (or controller, if attached to a 3174 Controller). See Chapter 2 of the Host Definition Guide for more information about MAXDATA.

Section A.3

The A Alter Device Characteristics Example text has been corrected to read:

A LST1,CLASS=A

sets queue 1 LST device to class A.

The D Display Device Characteristics Example text has been corrected to read:

D LST1

displays all jobs in queue 1 on the LST device.

The I Inquire Example text has been corrected to read:

I DEV=PRT1LST

displays the status of PRT1 the LST device.
