2. Install BARR/PRINT to Metacode

When you install a printer in your work environment for the first time, the printer configuration will be based on a default configuration used by BARR/PRINT to Metacode. Thus, you should modify the configuration according to your environment.

BARR/PRINT to Metacode supports different types of ports and job format profiles. Each port can be connected to different print devices and environments. Depending on the device and environment that connects your workstation to the Xerox high-volume printer, you must use a specific job format profile supported by BARR/PRINT to Metacode. This requires adding ports and selecting the appropriate job format profile for your device and environment.


2.1 System Requirements

Although you can install BARR/PRINT to Metacode in a computer having the minimum system requirements, performance will improve as you increase the computer's processor speed, operating system, and memory.

2.2 Installation Procedure

Follow the steps below to install BARR/PRINT to Metacode.

If you are using a virus detection utility, you should disable it before installing BARR/PRINT to Metacode because it may interfere with the installation. You should also close all open applications.

  1. Insert the BARR/PRINT to Metacode installation disk into your disk drive. Make sure that the installation disk is not write-protected.

  2. From the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Run.

  3. In the Open field, type: a:\setup.exe, and click OK. The installation wizard will launch and guide you through the installation process.

If you want to add printers after the installation process, select the Start the BARR/PRINT to Metacode Printer Manager option and click Finish on the final installation screen.

Open the BARR/PRINT to Metacode Printer Manager by double-clicking the BARR/PRINT to Metacode Printers icon in the Windows Control Panel.

2.3 Workstation Configuration

It is not necessary to configure the printers at each workstation. After you install and configure the printers on one workstation, you can export the printer configurations to a file, and then import the appropriately configured printers to other workstations.
