6. Configure DOS-Based BARR/SPOOL for TCP/IP Printing

You can configure DOS-based BARR/SPOOL for receiving Metacode data from TCP/IP networks through LPR. When data is sent to a TCP/IP host through the LPR protocol, the host is responsible for sending the print job to the printer.

Follow these steps to configure BARR/SPOOL.


6.1 Set a Queue to Metacode

Follow these steps to select an available print queue and set the session name to Metacode.

  1. From the BARR/PRINT for TCP/IP Description menu, select the next available queue.

  2. Set Use this source device? to Yes.

  3. Set Session name is to METACODE.

  4. Press ENTER.

6.2 Assign and Configure the Device

Follow these steps to assign a destination and select a receive mode for the Metacode device.

  1. From Assign Devices, select the new Metacode device.

  1. Select SPOOL as the destination.

  1. Select Receive mode.

  1. Select Binary.
