Displaying shortcut keys

By default, Windows 2000 and Windows XP hides keyboard shortcut In applications, a key or key combination used to perform a defined function. Also called accelerator. listings for menus in windows and dialog boxes. You can press the ALT key to display the keyboard shortcuts, or you can configure Windows to always display them. Complete the following steps to configure Windows to always display keyboard shortcuts. The steps will vary depending on your operating system. For more information, see your Microsoft Help.

Windows XP

  1. Open the Display Properties dialog box.

  2. From the taskbar, click Start | Control Panel | Display.

  3. Right-click the desktop, and select Properties.

  1. From the Appearance tab, click Effects. The Effects dialog box displays.

  2. Clear the Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key option.

  3. Click OK twice.

Windows 2000

  1. From the taskbar, click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Display.

  2. From the Effects tab, clear the Hide keyboard navigation indicators until I use the Alt key option.

  3. Click OK.
