Getting started

BARR/RJE

The BARR/RJE module emulates an RJE remote and provides a powerful way to exchange documents with a network of mainframes in a peer-to-peer networked A network of two or more computers that use the same program or type of program to communicate and share data. environment. For new users, setting up BARR/RJE requires configuring the host and the computer. If you are upgrading from DOS-based BARR/RJE, you must import the DOS configuration file and verify the conversion settings. The extent to which you configure the host and the computer depends on the complexity of your RJE network. These steps were developed to provide minimal interruption to your host system and must be followed in order.

You must be a member of the local Administrators group to operate the RJE Configuration Utility. If you are assigned the Configure - RJE user access right on the computer to which you are trying to connect, but are not a member of the Administrators group, the RJE Configuration Utility will operate in read-only mode.

If you are not an Administrator, you must also be assigned the RJE Console and RJE Connection Manager user access rights to access RJE Console and RJE Connection Manager.
